Screen Recorder
The ProcessPlan Recorder is a Windows app that captures your screen and your spoken narration while you perform a process the way you normally would. When you stop, the recording is uploaded to ProcessPlan automatically and turned into a documented process, ready to review, refine, and run.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”- Start a recording and describe out loud what you are doing as you work.
- Perform the process at your normal pace, in your normal applications.
- Stop the recording. It uploads to ProcessPlan automatically.
- ProcessPlan analyzes the recording and builds the process. You receive an email when it is ready.
What you need
Section titled “What you need”- A computer running Windows 10 or later.
- A working microphone. Narration is required: recordings without audible narration cannot be processed.
- An internet connection.
- An authorization code provided by your ProcessPlan administrator.
- The email address of a valid ProcessPlan user account.
Your administrator will provide the ProcessPlan Recorder application along with your authorization code.
Finding the recorder
Section titled “Finding the recorder”The recorder does not open a window of its own. It runs in the Windows system tray, the row of small icons near the clock. When you launch it, a notification confirms it is loaded and ready.
- Right-click the ProcessPlan logo in the system tray to open the menu with all recorder commands.
- Double-click the logo to start a recording, or to stop one that is in progress.
- Hover over the logo to see the current status, including elapsed recording time.
To close the recorder, right-click the logo and choose Exit. Exit is unavailable while a recording is active, so stop the recording first.
What is recorded
Section titled “What is recorded”While a recording is active, the recorder captures:
- A video of your screen. It follows whichever window you are working in, so it works naturally across multiple monitors.
- Your voice narration through the microphone.
- Your mouse clicks, typing, and scrolling.
- Text you copy and paste.
Keeping the recorder up to date
Section titled “Keeping the recorder up to date”The recorder keeps itself up to date automatically and briefly restarts when a new version is installed. To check manually, right-click the ProcessPlan logo in the system tray and choose Check for Updates.
