Text Message (SMS) Action Type

ProcessPlan can automatically send text messages (SMS) based on action triggers - for example, texting a customer when their order ships or alerting a manager when a task goes past due.

To set up an automated text message:

  1. On the desired template, click the Automated Actions icon in the template designer menu

  2. Give the action a name and select Automate a Text Message as your Action Type

  3. Select a trigger and add any conditions

  4. In Action setup, complete the settings below

  • To Number - The phone number(s) to text. Separate multiple numbers with semicolons (;)

  • Message - The text of the message. Messages cost 3¢ each to US numbers and 10¢ each to international numbers

Both settings support the Insert Field Token button, so the recipient’s number and the message text can be pulled from your process fields.

Good to know:

  • Sending text messages requires an account in good standing (an active subscription or trial)

  • Each message that is sent is recorded against the process, including the recipient number and the message text

  • If one of the numbers in your list is invalid it is skipped, and the message is still sent to the remaining numbers

Optionally, use the Complete Task step to automatically complete a process task with a success or failure response after the message is sent.
