New Feature Round-up

Work Schedules

Work Schedules are available on the administration menu. Work Schedules can be used to specify valid work days for use with scheduled processes and scheduled automated actions. Work Schedules can prevent scheduled processes and action from executing on holidays and other non-working days. You can also create multiple work schedules for different worker shifts or for things like new hire orientation days.

Account Wide User Roles

ProcessPlan now has User Roles that can be defined globally and used within any process task assignment or other places in the platform. User Roles are located under the Administration menu.

Preventing Process Deletions

On the Process Template Settings panel under the Advanced Settings section, there is a new setting named Prevent Process Deletion. When enabled, this setting will prevent a process from being deleted until it is disabled. This will prevent accidently process deletions.

Renaming The Process “Start” Button

You now have the option of renaming the process start button. For example, you can change the start button to something more intuitive like “Submit Purchase Order” or “Start Construction Job” or “Start Project”.

New Formula Function

The following function will return the next workday on your work schedule. This function is most often used to calculate dates in process fields.

=WORKDAY(WorkScheduleID; OptionalWorkDaysToSkip; OptionalStartFromDate)

New Date Field Tokens

There are new field tokens for dates that enable dates to be displayed in long form such as “November 9th 2021”. These field token are most often used in Automated Action emails. The new field tokens end with the text "“(Long Date)”.

New Field Type “Parent Process Link”

When a process is used as a subprocess and you want to easily create a link back to the parent process, you can use this new field type name “Parent Process Link” which will auto generate a link back to the parent process.

New Field Types “User Group List” and “User Role List”

These new field types display a drop down list of all the user groups and user roles in your account respectively. This can be useful for dynamically assigning tasks to a selected user group or role.

New Field Type “Process Table Builder”

This new field type is quite powerful. It enables the creation of an arbitrary number line items to be carried through a process.

For instance…

  • expense approval line items

  • purchase request line items

  • purchase order line items

  • sales order line items.

However, what’s unique about the Process Table Builder field type is that, like most things in ProcessPlan, everything is a process. Therefore, each line item is an independent process of it’s own. Yet, each line item is always connected to it’s parent process. It’s a powerful concept. Give it a try!

New Field Token for the Process Table Builder Field Type

A new field token returns a formatted table which you can easily drop into an Automated Action email to display all the values in your Process Table.

New Field Tokens for Minutes and Hours

We have added new field tokens that return the number of minutes or hours a person has spent in a day or week or on a specific process. These field tokens are useful if you want to calculate time-based billing. Using a field formula, you can multiple someone’s hours by their billing rate and calculate an invoice amount.
